	SCHEDULE: NOV 11-17, 2006 HPC meets IT Session: M13 Event Type: Tutorial Time: 1:30pm - 5:00pm Presenter(s): Sharan Kalwani Location: 1-2 Abstract: With HPC and all it performance aspects becoming de facto mainstream, often the business side of things is left out. The major focus has always been on the technical issues, but this tutorial will address and bring the attendee up to date on the IT side of HPC Planning, Installation, Operations and Management. IT is traditionally viewed and practiced with a clear focus on emphasizing the usefulness and critical role it plays in any organization. With HPC becoming a fundamental piece of the business and commercial world, HPC practitioners need to become savvy with IT world. This tutorial will address and educate tech-savvy HPC artisans in the world from a business planning and management perspective. Terms such as ROI, ITIL practices, IT standards, portfolio management, business infrastructure, SLA, governance, are well known terms but NEED an HPC flavor, and that will be covered in detail.
